| City Centre Recreation Centre
City Centre is a new recreation centre which opened in January 2005 in a busy and growing area of a major city. It serves a population of about 100,000 people in the area with four gyms, two NHL sized rinks, a 25 meter pool, and various fitness facilities. The Centre is governed by a volunteer Board made up of people elected from 10 different community associations and 2 representatives from the City.
The City and the Province paid for the construction of the centre, but there is still more work that could be done. The Board of Directors has made a list of priorities for additional equipment that include a climbing wall, aquatic toys for children to use in the pool, fitness equipment for the disabled, and a multimedia audio visual room that coaches can use for instruction. The Board would also like to set up a reserve of funds that can be used to pay for memberships for people who are financially disadvantaged. The dollar value of these items is:
Climbing Wall Construction - $500,000
Aquatic Toys - $100,000
Fitness Equipment for the Disabled - $300,000
Multimedia Room - $200,000
Reserve for Financially Disadvantaged - $150,000
The total financial need is $1,250,000.00 The Board would like to raise this money over the next year. Your job is to prepare a plan that shows the Board the best ways to raise these funds. Fill in the feedback forms found by going back to the case studies page. Send us your responses for some feedback on your fund development plan. |
